Qawali Night Enthralls Audience

Hi Tide Events arranged 'Qawali Night' here on Friday which enthralled the audience with enthusiastic Qawalis by Sultan Ul Qadria.
According to an organizer,"Sultan Ul Qadria entertained the audience with stunning musical performances." Adding that event was aimed at promoting the virtues of peace, harmony and love, turned out to be a marvelous evening of traditional music, developed many centuries ago by the Sufi saints.
Sufi music and Sufi art and all the activities related to it have a great potential to promote peace, harmony, love, affection and tolerance.
Music is the only thing which has such a binding force to unite and capable to transcend all the barriers of caste, class, creed and religion, he said.
Qawali is a devotional form of music that dates back to 13th Century spreading the theme of peace, love, harmony and compassion, he added.
The words were sung and then repeatedly with variations intended to bring out deeper meanings of the lyrics,"Harmonium, tabla, dholak, sarangi, saringda, and rabab, common instruments in qawwali, with clapping to support the singing being a popular motif.
The venue was jam-packed with an audience comprising of both men and women in almost equal numbers,Sultan Ul Qadria performed with great zeal, and compelled listeners to applaud lavishly he said.
His voice carved to the point where his range was greater than the keys of his harmonium and beats of the tablas, and the compositions full of emotions was enjoyed and easily linked to by music lovers.
The organizers said the event was aimed to provide awareness to youngsters about the country's culture and traditions.
Most of our younger generations are ignorant about the 'sufi kalam' and this is the best way to educate them about it.
