FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2019 ) ::Travel agents of Faisalabad have welcomed three proposed direct flights from Faisalabad to Jeddah from February 15, 2019.
They thanked Chairman Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Air Marshal Arshad Mehmood Malik for taking keen interest to tap the huge potential of passenger and cargo load from this thickly populated industrial city of the country.
A spokesman of the Travel Agents Association Muhammad Akram Khan said that many international airlines were already running direct international flights from Faisalabad but National Flag Carrier PIA had only direct flight from Faisalabad to Madina and from Faisalabad to Jeddah. The two flights for Jeddah were discounted for unknown reasons, however, it was very encouraging that now PIA has decided to start three direct flights from Faisalabad to Jeddah from February 15, 2019, he added.
He said the PIA should fix timings for these flights which were suitable to the regular flyers. He further told that passengers from Faisalabad and from its surroundings district prefer to travel through national flag carrier. However, he said that there was still huge untapped potential for domestic as well as international passengers and PIA must start more direct flights between Faisalabad and Karachi.
He asserted that timings of these domestic flights should be set in consultation with travel agents so that the international passengers could easily get connecting flights without any wastage of time.
He hoped that Air Marshal Arshad Mehmood Malik will also work out plans to expand runway of Faisalabad Airport so that more international flights for Europe, China and other countries could be started from this city.
