Balochistan Requires Better Broadband Services

There is a need of more mobile phone and other telecom services to get more business opportunities in the largest province of the country Balochistan that witness lowest teledensity.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Oct, 2018 ) :There is a need of more mobile phone and other telecom services to get more business opportunities in the largest province of the country Balochistan that witness lowest teledensity.
Due to security situation in Balochistan telecom services, mainly mobile phone facility stayed at distance for more than two decades after it was launched in the country.
Corridor thanks to a fast-improving security situation and growing development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic (CPEC) several districts in Balochistan are going to receive mobile phone and other telecom services for the first time ever.
Official of Universal Service Fund (USF) told APP that, USF' largest funding has been done in Balochistan, Major part of telecommunication infrastructure that exist in Balochistan today is that of USF.
He said, due to a fast-improving security situation and growing development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic (CPEC) USF has undertaken different projects in Balochistan in the categories of broadband for Sustainable Development Programme , Optic Fiber Cable programme and special project initiatives, he added.
He said that on Feb 2017 the data services in seven district of Balochistan have been closed, out of which data service in three districts of Balochistan Chamman, Kharan and Dalbandin have been restored on March 2018 as per the instruction of ISI.
Among the telecom operators of Pakistan, Ufone was able to win the most from the 12 projects. Ufone has been awarded projects worth Rs. 14.2 billion in various cities of the province which includes Sibi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Chagai, Awaran, Kharan-Washuk and Dera Bugti districts.
Government is making all out efforts to introduce 5G technology in Pakistan by 2019 to bring it at par with Developed economies in term of technology advancements.
