Roskomnadzor has filed a report in relation to Twitter's failure to provide requested data on localization of user personal data bases, which constitutes an administrative offense under the Russian legislation, the watchdog said Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) Roskomnadzor has filed a report in relation to Twitter's failure to provide requested data on localization of user personal data bases, which constitutes an administrative offense under the Russian legislation, the watchdog said Thursday.

Russia's 2014 law requires social networking sites to store the personal data of Russian users inside the country.

"The report has been drawn up under article 19.7 of the Russian Code on Administrative Offenses over the fact that the company did not provide necessary information on localization of personal data bases of Russian users in Russia. The protocol was compiled in presence of a Twitter representative. The document will be sent to the magistrate in accordance with the terms of the Russian Code on Administrative Offenses for a ruling on administrative responsibility," the press service of the watchdog said.
