MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th April, 2019) The Russian space control system detected in 2018 as many as 22 dangerous flybys of space garbage in the vicinity of satellites and one flyby near the International Space Center (ISS), Roman Fattakhov, the senior aide to the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Space Intelligence Center, said on Thursday.

"Every month, the space control system registers cases of dangerous flybys of space garbage near spacecraft. The system registered 23 dangerous flybys in 2018, one of them [was registered] near the ISS. We have informed organizations in charge of space objects about this," Fattakhov said at a conference on space debris in Moscow.

Fattakhov said earlier in the day that around 100 fragments of downed Indian Microsat-R satellite remained in space, after India's successful test of its anti-satellite weapons in late March, and were posing danger to the ISS.
