Arab League Calls For Transition In Syria

CAIRO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st April, 2019) The Arab League said in a joint declaration after this Sunday's summit in Tunisia it would welcome Syria back into its ranks after a political transition.
The 22-member bloc said this would guarantee inclusiveness. The League underscored the need to assist Syria in overcoming the crisis and bring it back into the fold.
Syria's return to the organization would benefit the region and stop foreign powers from interfering in Arab countries, the conclusions read. The Arab states ruled out a forceful solution to the Syrian crisis.
Syria's membership of the Arab League was suspended when hostilities broke out in 2011, prompting some Arab countries to pull their envoys from Damascus. The Syrian government, the group's co-founder, called this decision illegal.
