At least four civilians were killed on Monday in an airstrike of the US-led international coalition in the Syrian eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, local media reported citing sources
The airstrike was conducted on the outskirts of the town of Baghuz, according to the Syrian Arab news Agency (SANA).
On Saturday, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the start of an operation aimed at liberating Baghuz from the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, outlawed in Russia). The SDF units claim that Baghuz is the last settlement held by the IS in Syria.
The SDF units are engaged in a fight against terrorists and are backed by the US-led coalition, whose airstrikes in the region have repeatedly resulted in civilian casualties, according to Syrian media reports.
