MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on Wednesday welcomed the outcome of the third inter-Korean summit.

"The joint statement of President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea and Chairman Kim Jong-un of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) outlines concrete commitments and steps for denuclearisation, ending hostilities and removing risks of war, promoting reconciliation and humanitarian cooperation.

The written commitment of the DPRK to dismantle its missile engine testing facility and launch tower "in the presence of experts from relevant countries", which should involve relevant multilateral institutions, is an important step," Mogherini said.

She also expressed hope that these steps would ensure concrete progress towards establishing peace and security on the peninsula.
