Maldives' President-Elect Officially Assumes Office - Reports

President-elect of the Maldives Ibrahim Solih officially assumed office on Saturday, local media reported.
According to the Avas media outlet, the ceremony took place at the National Football Stadium in the Maldivian capital of Male.
The ceremony was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Saturday, new Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem also assumed his office.
On September 23, a presidential election was held in the Maldives, which resulted in a victory for opposition politician Solih, who beat the country's then president, Abdulla Yameen, securing over 58 percent of the vote.
