MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 02nd January, 2019) A man suspected of a stabbing attack at Victoria station in the UK city of Manchester was detained under the Mental Health Act, Greater Manchester Police said.
On Monday evening, three people, a couple and a policeman, got stabbed wounds in an incident at Victoria station. The suspect was detained minutes after the attack and is currently in custody in Manchester. The policeman was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. The police treat the attack as a terrorist investigation.
"The 25 year old man arrested last night (31 December 2018) following the incident at Manchester Victoria Station has been assessed by specialist medical staff and detained under the Mental Health Act," the police said in a statement late on Tuesday.
The statement noted that "there is nothing to suggest the involvement of other people in this attack," however the counterterrorism investigation was still underway.
The police continue searching the address in Cheetham Hill, which is supposed to be where the attacker had recently been living.
