The head of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc, said Monday that he was ready to start negotiations with other lawmakers to form a parliamentary coalition after no party secured the absolute majority.

Moldova held its general election on Sunday.

According to the interim results, Moldova's Party of Socialists won with 31.35 percent of the votes. The ACUM bloc secured 26.39 percent, the Democratic Party received 23.84 percent and the SOR Party got 8.39 percent.

"The Democratic Party is ready to launch talks with parties and independent deputes in the parliament to form a parliamentary majority and the government that will allow us to start fulfilling our obligations," the lawmaker said.
