NATO Chief Stoltenberg Says Gladly Accepted Invitation To Address US Congress

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday that he had accepted the invitation to address a joint meeting of US Congress in April and was looking forward to speaking before US lawmakers.

The invitation was extended by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who said that the United States was looking forward to hear the NATO chief's "message of friendship and partnership" during the joint meeting.

"It is a great honor to be invited to speak to a joint meeting of the US Congress, I am grateful for a bipartisan invitation to do so and I will, of course, accept that invitation. I am, actually, very much looking forward to speak to the Congress," Stoltenberg said at a press conference when presenting NATO's annual report.

In April, Stoltenberg and NATO foreign ministers will be visiting Washington on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the alliance on April 4, 1949.
