TEL AVIV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th January, 2019) Israeli Prime Minister Bejnamin Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that his country was behind the weekend airstrikes at targets near Syria's Damascus airport.
Syria's state television channel Ikhbariya reported in the early hours of Saturday that a warehouse outside the international airport was hit in a missile attack.
"In the last 36 hours alone, the Israeli Air Force struck Iranian arms caches at the Damascus international airport," Netanyahu was cited by his press office as saying at a cabinet meeting.
The prime minister promised to continue attacking suspected Iranian targets in Syria to stop the Islamic Republic from entrenching in the country, where it supports the government of President Bashar Assad.
