North Korea Agrees To Allow ICAO Experts To Carry Out Checks - Reports

TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th August, 2018) North Korea agreed to allow experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to carry out checks to ensure that commercial aircraft are flying safely, Japanese media reported on Sunday.
The experts may come to North Korea as soon as next year, the Kyodo news agency reported, citing a source from ICAO.
The experts may visit the launchpads, from which ballistic missiles had been launched.
In May, North Korea told ICAO representatives that it would not make any steps endangering aircraft without notifying other countries in the region first.
Airlines generally try to avoid flying over North Korea, which carried out several missile and nuclear tests in recent years. However, Pyongyang has not had a single test launch in months as its relations with neighboring South Korea and its ally the United States have become less tense.
