Representatives of North Korean regions are planning to visit several Russian cities later this year, senior Russian lawmaker Oleg Melnichenko told Sputnik on Thursday
"At the moment, a number of visits by delegations from North Korean regions to several Russian cities are being prepared, we will name specific regions and Federal subjects later," Melnichenko said.
He added that Russian lawmakers managed to conduct a "very constructive" work. Melnichenko stressed that cooperation between Russia and North Korea would only deepen, judging by the way Russian delegation was accepted in Pyongyang.
Members of the Russian Federation Council's group for cooperation with North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly visited Pyongyang on March 15-21 to take part in events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the signing of the agreement between the Soviet Union and North Korea on economic and cultural cooperation.
Besides Melnichenko, former Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak and Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council Alexander Bashkin were among Russian representatives.
Last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko visited North Korea, where both officials met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
