TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) North Korea's ambassadors to Russia, China and the country's representative to the United Nations returned to Pyongyang for consultations on Tuesday, South Korean media reported on Wednesday.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the three officials, accompanied by about 10 more North Korean diplomats, took an Air Koryo flight from Beijing to Pyongyang.

The most likely cause of the ambassadors' return to their home country is a regular meeting of North Korea's diplomatic missions heads. According to the news outlet's source, the gathering might be used as an opportunity to exchange views on negotiation strategy with the United States in light of the modest progress of the recent summit in Hanoi.

The second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un concluded with no agreement signed in the Vietnamese capital in February. Trump walked away from the talks, saying that Kim demanded full sanctions removal, while not pledging to denuclearize exactly the territories that Washington wanted. The US president, however, praised progress in the dialogue and said that it would continue at the level of experts.
