Pelosi Says Revoking Security Clearance Of Ex-CIA Director 'Abuse Of Power'

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) US President Donald Trump's decision to revoke the security clearance of former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan constitutes an abuse of power, US House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Wednesday.

"Revoking the security clearance of an honorable patriot is a stunning abuse of power & a pathetic attempt to silence critics," Pelosi said on Twitter. "This is yet another disturbing attempt by [Donald Trump] to distract & divert attention from his Admin's #cultureofcorruption, cronyism & incompetence.

"

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump said in a statement read by White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders that he was revoking Brennan's security clearance.

The statement also said the security clearances of other Obama administration officials were under review, including those of former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former Deputy US Attorney General Sally Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
