Policemen in the Polish city of Wroclaw had to use weapons and make as many as 10 shots to detain a Ukrainian citizen suspected of theft, Wroclaw police spokesman Kamil Rynkiewicz told reporters on Friday
On Wroclaw's street of Gwiazdzista, the police tried to stop the car with a man who, according to their information, had just committed theft, the spokesman said.
"When the police stopped the car and approached the driver, he suddenly started moving, almost knocking over the policeman, and tried to escape.
The policeman barely managed to jump aside," Rynkiewicz said.
The police were forced to use weapons and made eight shots at the car, damaging the wheels. After that, the driver left the car and tried to escape. Then the police fired two warning shots into the air, forcing the Ukrainian to stop.
According to the police, no one was injured during the incident.
Currently, the police are preparing materials to present charges against the detainee.
