Information on the kidnapping of Amnesty International researcher Oleg Kozlovsky in the Russian Republic of Ingushetia has not been confirmed yet, the republic's Interior Ministry said on Monday.

Earlier in the day, the Amnesty International watchdog said that Kolzlovsky, who was monitoring the protests in the republic's town of Magas, had been "abducted, beaten and subjected to terrifying mock executions by men claiming to be members of the security services.

"The Interior Ministry of the Republic of Ingushetia officially informs that until now the information [on the abduction of Kozlovsky] has not been confirmed. In addition, the citizen has not reached out to police with a claim about illegal actions against him, "the statement read.

Ingushetia's Ombudsmen for Human Rights Dzhambulat Ozdoev told Sputnik that he had met and with Kozlovsky last week in Moscow. The activist vowed to write his claim in paper, but has not submitted it yet.
