Rwandan Ambassador to Russia Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya told Sputnik that Kigali and Moscow were planning to sign an intergovernmental agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy in November or December this year.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 03rd September, 2018) Rwandan Ambassador to Russia Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya told Sputnik that Kigali and Moscow were planning to sign an intergovernmental agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy in November or December this year.
"In November or December there will also be a signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Rwanda and [Russia's nuclear corporation] Rosatom for the final inter-governmental agreement.
Towards the end of November, or beginning of December. It is, as I told you, about the use of atomic energy for peaceful use in Rwanda," the ambassador said.
According to the diplomat, Kigali is looking for alternative solutions for the energy problem and focusing on peaceful nuclear energy as the best option.
In late June, Rosatom and the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure signed a memorandum of understanding, establishing legal basis for potential nuclear cooperation.
