MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 27th December, 2018) Russia surpasses the United States by 10-15 years in terms of developing weapons for [nuclear] retaliation, Yury Solomonov, general designer of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (MITT), the creator of the Yars, Topol, Bulava missiles and the Pioneer missile, withdrawn from service under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, said Thursday.
"[Russia] is indeed ahead of the Americans by at least 10-15 years. This does not mean that they will not do this. If they address it, in 10-15 years they will be able to do the same," Solomonov said in an interview with the Argumenty Nedeli newspaper.
