UK media reports about the alleged increased "activity" of Russian submarines are false stories that are part of an anti-Russian campaign, a spokesperson for the Russian embassy in London said Saturday.
LONDON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th August, 2018) UK media reports about the alleged increased "activity" of Russian submarines are false stories that are part of an anti-Russian campaign, a spokesperson for the Russian embassy in London said Saturday.
Earlier in the day, several UK newspapers published articles about alleged increase in Russian submarines activities.
"Indeed, the embassy paid attention to these materials, which, in our opinion, fit into the general tendency of replicating all sorts of false information in the context of the anti-Russian campaign that is being promoted here, although the British simply have no real grounds for 'intimidating' the public," the embassy's spokesperson said.
If there is a need to disseminate another information provocation, several publications are often used simultaneously, despite the declared independent editorial policy of each media resource taken separately, he noted.
"That is exactly how it was in this case. As if at a command, the Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail synchronously published today another anti-Russian false story with practically the same content," the spokesman said.
Russia has repeatedly noted London's aggressive rhetoric toward Moscow. Many UK politicians, especially those linked to defense industry, have been using the "Russian threat" narrative to justify their calls for increase in the defense spending.
