Ukrainian Presidential Race Front-Runner Zelenskiy Says Runs For One Term

Ukrainian presidential hopeful, comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said on Thursday that he was not planning to run for more than one presidential term
"I run for one term, because we see all the politicians who come to power today, and everyone thinks about what will happen in five years. Not about how to solve problems now, but how to stay [in power] ... I do not think about my ratings," Zelenskiy said in an interview published by his press service on YouTube.
Zelenskiy gave an interview to a number of media outlets, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, Bloomberg, Spiegel, the Economist, Le Figaro, Atlantic Council and Kyivpost.
The showman explained that he decided to run for president because Ukraine had a real vacuum in politics, where people really do not trust any of the top politicians.
"I want to do something. I want to bring decent, professional people to power. In principle, I would like to change the mood and tone of the political establishment as much as possible," Zelenskiy added.
The presidential election in Ukraine is scheduled for March 31. The Ukrainian Election Commission has registered 39 candidates for this year's race. Zelenskiy remains the front-runner in the race, according to fresh polls released earlier this week. He is followed by former Ukrainian Prime Minister and leader of the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party Yulia Tymoshenko and incumbent President Petro Poroshenko.
