MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) The United Nations is working to send another aid convoy to Rukban refugee camp in Syria by mid-December, after the one that was able to reach the area earlier in November, Senior Adviser to the Rukban UN Special Envoy for Syria Jan Egeland said on Thursday.
"Between the third and the eighth of this November, 78 trucks ... were able to navigate through some of the most dangerous areas in Syria ... We are now working to have anther convoy there [in Rukban] before the middle of December.
That is urgently needed," Egeland told reporters.
Egeland stressed the importance of meetings that were being had with representatives of Jordan, Russia, and the United States.
"The three of them have the keys to unlock this trap which [that place] is now for too many civilians in Rukban," he said.
The Rukban refugee camp lies inside a US-controlled area near At-Tanf in southern Syria. The camp hosting thousands of people had not had any humanitarian deliveries for months until the November convoy.
