ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2018 ) :Atleast 36 suspected patients and 100 hotspots have been reported in the capital since the dengue surveillance campaign has started after March 15.
Talking to APP, In charge Dengue Control Cell (DCC) Islamabad, Dr Muhammad Najeeb Durrani said that nine dengue patrolling teams comprising of five members each were active in the field during the dengue surveillance campaign.
He informed that the suspected dengue patients are admitted in Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital for treatment. To a question, he said no dengue larva were found in any area during the surveillance campaign while the DCC is closely monitoring the situation to amicably deal with any serious situation.
Durrani said DCC was making all-out efforts to make the campaign a success while in rural areas of the city ponds, warehouses with empty tyres are favorable habitats for dengue larva breeding.
The teams have taken necessary steps to control larva breeding in the hotspots and also filled bleaching powder in empty tyres to avoid dengue larva breeding.
It is pertinent to mention here that dengue larva needs one tablespoon of water to breed and develop into an adult mosquito and it can breed in any place where clean stagnant water is available.
He emphasized the citizens to take precautionary measures and cover water tanks, clean drinking water with lids, adding make proper cleanliness arrangements in the household, avoid water accumulation anywhere in the house, wear full sleeve dress in the early morning and evening hours.
He further said the only solution to dengue outbreak is to destroy its habitat and citizens should play their role in this regard.
