Health Insurance Coverage To Be Expanded: Minister

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Friday said that health insurance coverage under the health card scheme would be expanded.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Oct, 2018 ) :Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Friday said that health insurance coverage under the health card scheme would be expanded.
While chairing a meeting on health card scheme here, she said: "No deserving family should be deprived of the free health treatment facilities." She said that the health card scheme would be expanded to all districts soon. "Health cards with better features would replace cards issued by the previous government," she added.
The minister also directed the officials concerned to keep the data collected under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) updated so that maximum number of people could be benefited.
State Life Insurance Corporation would provide 1.2 million families with health coverage, the minister said adding that the teaching hospitals of private medical colleges should be included in scheme as they provide health facilities on comparatively cheaper rates.
"The PTI government believes in betterment of common man.
That's why we are now going to extend health card scheme to all districts," she concluded.
Earlier, Secretary Health Punjab Saqib Zaffer briefed the meeting on development in health card scheme.
