Pakistan Kidney Patients Association (PKPA) is going to observe World Kidney Day with the international vision to focus on women health and Kidney diseases on Saturday.
RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Mar, 2018 ) :Pakistan Kidney Patients Association (PKPA) is going to observe World Kidney Day with the international vision to focus on women health and Kidney diseases on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, PKPA General Secretary Colonel (R) Mohammad Younas Bhatti and Secretary Information Squadron Leader (R) Ghulam Abbas said the association would hold a awareness walk and seminar where expert urologists apprise the participants on kidney diseases and its preventions at PKPA Medical Center Tali Mohri.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Abbas said Kidneys were one of the five vital organs of human body. He said Kidneys purify about 180 liters of blood per day and maintain overall fluid balance, also, regulating and filtering minerals from blood, filtering waste materials from food, medications, and toxic substances, creating hormones that help produce red blood cells, promote bone health, and regulate blood pressure.
Abbas further said that most of the patients suffering from renal failure were diabetic and high blood pressure patients while it could be overcome with proper treatment and abstinence. He said everyone particularly high blood pressure and diabetes patients should have a regular kidney checkup namely RFT to examine the status of kidneys either deteriorating or not which was not very expensive.
These two diseases were known silent killer, he said, as they not only affect kidneys rather cause cause heart attack and paralysis, adding, such patients should mark their blood pressure and diabetes level on a daily basis.
He said kidney failure was now appearing in youngsters also which was alarming. To a question, he said Kidney stones, consumption of sleeping pills, steroids and wrong dose contributes to renal failure, however, a balanced diet, healthy life style and 10-12 glasses of water per day could help to avoid kidney diseases.
