Women react to stress differently than men

Psychologist Dr Nighat Yasir said that women are more likely to experience physical symptoms of stress than men. But, she said we don't have enough proof to say that this applies to all women.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Oct, 2018 ) :Psychologist Dr Nighat Yasir said that women are more likely to experience physical symptoms of stress than men. But, she said we don't have enough proof to say that this applies to all women. We do know that women often cope with stress in different ways than men. Women "tend and befriend," taking care of those closest to them, but also drawing support from friends and family, she said.

Men are more likely to have the "fight or flight" response and they cope by "escaping" in to a relaxing activity or other distraction.

Men and women report different reactions to stress, both physically and mentally, health web reported.

They attempt to manage stress in very different ways and also perceive their ability to do so and the things that stand in their way in markedly different ways. Findings suggest that while women are more likely to report physical symptoms associated with stress, they are doing a better job connecting with others in their lives at times, these connections are important to their stress management strategies.
