AIOU Holds `Education Awareness' Day

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -26th Augst,2016) : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Friday observed an `Education awareness' day to brief students about its academic programmes and services, enabling them to continue their study at higher-level. The Day was organized by Directorate of Students Advisory and Counseling Services, in collaboration with Directorate of Regional Services and Admissions.
A number of stalls were set up by the University's Faculties and services departments. The event was largely attended by students and tutors from Rawalpindi and Islamabad regions. Vice Chancellor Prof.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said on the occasion that, "The University has launched a number of initiatives to motivate and encourage the students towards educational pursuits. He hoped they would take benefit of new academic programmes and educational services, recently undertaken by the University." Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr.
Nagmana Rashid, Director Regional Services Arif Saleem Arif, Dirctor Admissions, Syed Zia-ul Hasnain and Director Students Affairs Rana Tariq Javed apprised the students of the ongoing admissions that will continue till Sept 5. The AIOU with affordable fee structure has launched around 1200 academic programs to meet the educational needs of the people.
Meanwhile, the University has decided to broaden the scope of its existing `Students Support System' to cover the maximum number of the needy students, giving relaxation in their fee.
The scholarship package includes: Earn to learn scheme, Merit Scholarship Scheme, Outreach Scholarship Scheme, Final Year Project Gant Scheme, Scholarship for Communities, and Scholarship for Women, Fee Installment Scheme and Alumni/Sponsored Scholarship.
Besides this, Fee installment facility is also available, the officials said. Merit scholarships scheme is an initiative to generate competition among students and encourage brilliant students.
The scholarship is being offered to the fresh and continuing students of all levels scoring 75% and above marks in their latest results. Hundreds of students of local schools and colleges attended the event and showed keen interest in the University's ongoing programs.
It was an open-day and the students were facilitated to visit the University's facilities including Labs, library and Institute of education technology.
