Amin Gandapur Chairs First Meeting Of Committee On Political, Constitutional Rights Of G-B

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur Monday chaired the first meeting of the committee constituted by the federal government to determine political and constitutional rights of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem, Attorney General of Pakistan, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Secretaries of Defence, Foreign and Kashmir and GB affairs, GB minister for law, chief secretary and others, said a press release issued here.
Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said that government believed in devolution of power at grass root level.
He said that the committee as par its Terms of Reference would empower people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Minister said that important national interest matters would be given priority in preparing recommendations.
He said the committee would examine GB rights for which terms of references (ToRs) had been already fixed by reviewing the GB Governance Order 2018 in light of the Sartaj Aziz Committee report, Supreme Court verdict onAl-Jahad Trust petition 1999, attorney general's recommendations, status of GB in the light of UN resolutions on Kashmir and stand taken by the government of Pakistan at international level.
The committee would meet on daily basis with all the stakeholders to finalize the report.
