ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2017 ) : Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Wednesday informed the Senate that ample stock of T.B medicines and life saving Hydrocartizan injection is available in the country.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Col. Tahir Hussain Mashhadi regarding non-availability of life saving drugs like Florinif tablet, Hydrocartizan and T.B medicines, the minister said that Florinif tablets were not registered with Drug Regulatory Authority.
No pharma firm applied for registration of the said tablet so far, he added. The minister said Hydrocartizan was available in form of injection rather than tablet.
Regarding T.B medicines, he said the National T.B Control Programme had sufficient stock of the medicines.
World Health Organization (WHO) had now recommended dissolvable tablets for children and its first consignment had already reached in the country and distributed to the provinces, he said. He said the next consignment of such medicines would reach next month.
He said there was shortage of TB medicines in the open market in 2015 but it was available at government hospitals treating TB. APP/raz/ahn
