Around 3592 Medical Stores Sealed During Last Year

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health and Chairman CM Task Force for Spurious Medicines, Kh.Imran Nazir on Wednesday said that vigorous campaign against illegal and inhuman trade of spurious and unregistered medicines in the province would continue till the complete eradication of such elements.
Khawaja Imran Nazir disclosed that very positive and successful results of anti-spurious and substandard drugs campaign were obtained during 2016. Giving the details of performance of Chief Minister's Task Force on Spurious Medicines, Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the raiding squads of the primary and secondary health showed best performance.
He said that drug inspectors of the squads performed duties in a splendid manner. He said that during 2016 the raiding teams inspected 64210 medical stores during which 3592 medical stores/factories sealed on the charges of different irregularities, whereas, FIRs had been registered against 371 accused.
He further said that Drug Courts decided 2386 cases in which the Courts imposed fine of Rs 73.2205 million along with a total imprisonment of 75 years, 07 months to the culprits. Khawaja Imran Nazir revealed that Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had ordered to free the province from the business of spurious and substandard medicines.
He said that zero tolerance would be showed to the unscrupulous elements involved in this heinous crime. Khawaja Imran Nazir reiterated that crackdown against the manufacturers and sellers of substandard and spurious drugs would be continued till the complete eradication of spurious and substandard medicines from the province.
