CM Reviews Progress Regarding Kissan Package

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Rs 100 billion interest-free loans would be given to small cultivators under Khadim-e-Punjab Kissan Package and this revolutionary programme would be started from middle of the current month.
He said that more than 500,000 small farmers would benefit from this programme. He said that the Punjab government would bear the markup on these loans. He said that the programme of interest-free loans would leave a positive impact on agriculture sector.
He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress with regard to historic Kissan Package for the welfare of cultivators, here. The Chief Minister said that farmers played a vital role in national development and prosperity, adding that the government had introduced the historic Kissan package and other incentives for the cultivators first time in the country's history.
Shehbaz Sharif said that revolutionary measures taken by government would bring about a revolution in agriculture sector.
He said that hard working farmers were very dear to him and protection of their interests was his responsibility.
The Chief Minister said that prices of fertilizers of different varieties had also been reduced substantially under Kissan Package and the provincial government was giving a subsidy of Rs. 10 billion for this purpose.
Moreover, he said, the rate of power tariff for agri tube-wells had also been reduced. He said that machinery and agri implements would also be given to small farmers and hi-tec mechanism centers would be set up for this purpose.
The Chief Minister directed to complete electronic registration of all cultivators at the earliest. He expressed the hope that the steps taken for the uplift of farmers would prove fruitful. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Dr. Farrukh Javed, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chairman Planning & Development, prominent economist Dr. Akmal Hussain and authorities concerned attended the meeting.
