Electoral Rolls Display Process Going Smoothly: ECP

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Sep, 2016 ) : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday said the process of display of electoral rolls was going smoothly and so far 14437 applications for additions, deletions and corrections have been received at display centers.
The electoral rolls are being updated as per already approved timeline by the Commission and the process of display of electoral rolls will end on October, 10, a press release issued here on Friday said.
All the applications will be decided by the Registration Officers concerned on merit. The updated electoral rolls will be available in November, 2018. The ECP has taken different initiative to conduct General election 2018, justly, fairly and in accordance with law.
It has also taken a number of other decisions, whose detail is as follow: Keeping in view the importance of civic and voter education, District Voter Education Committees under the chairmanship of District Election Commissioners concerned have been activated and training thereof is in progress across the country.
Necessary guidelines for organizing civic and voter education programmes are being issued to ensure largest public participation in Elections 2018. The ECP is also procuring the list of officers of Federal and Provincial Governments for appointment of honest, efficient and trustworthy officers during the General Elections 2018.
The work on developing of manuals and handbooks for training of District Returning Officers, Returning Officers and polling staff have been started so that the quality of training could be ensured well before the election schedule.
The work on procurement of different essential items required in elections has also been started to ensure quality and timely procurement of election material.
