on the basis of 30 years of experience in the field, Dr Wani could say that most of the employees harbor mental health issue but do not seek counseling. Employees in Kashmir work under stress.
There is always anxiety in their minds. The stress levels, however, vary from workplace to workplace. If the boss is nice, naturally the employees work in an atmosphere of relaxation, so they do not show any symptoms of depression, he said.
Dr Wani said that the patients needed to know about ways to come out of the issues. We have deployed a 7-member team consisting of psychiatrists, social workers and psychiatric nurses. The teams go to schools and colleges and other workplaces and counsel people on how to manage mental health issues through various mental exercises. The World Mental Health Day was started in 1992 and is celebrated on October 10 every year.
the attitude of Indian occupation forces towards the Kashmirs people, particularly the employees who face them twice a day; once at office time in the morning and then while returning home in the evening, is cited as the main cause of anxiety and stress among the employees.
