Experts Laud PM Imran Khan For Announcing Massive Tree Plantation Campaign

The Environment and climate change experts on Monday highly lauded the announcement of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to initiate massive tree plantation campaign across the country.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Aug, 2018 ) :The Environment and climate change experts on Monday highly lauded the announcement of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to initiate massive tree plantation campaign across the country.
The experts said that the concerns of government regarding global warming were need of the hours to meet the challenges related to climate change and environment.
Director Development Communication (DEVCOM) Pakistan Munir Ahmad an expert of environment said that the concerns of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding global warming is very important for the future of the country. He highly appreciated the announcement of the government to start a massive tree plantation campaign all over the country to turn Pakistan green.
He said that the government also announced to involve youth in the tree plantation campaigns which is very positive initiative and will overcome the issues related to environment and climate change in the country.
Prof. Mirza Jan said that PTI government successfully carried the one billion trees project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the announcement of government to start similar campaign across the country would turn Pakistan green.
Prof. Salman Ali Khan Quaid Azam University Islamabad said that Pakistan potentially faces a major climate change challenge, adding that a concerted effort by the government and people at all levels is required to mitigate these threats.
He said that climatic changes are expected to have wide-ranging impacts on Pakistan, affecting agricultural productivity, water availability and increased frequency of extreme climatic events.
He said that addressing these risks requires climate change to be mainstreamed into national strategy and policy.
