FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2021 ) :FIA cyber crime team has arrested an accused involved in digital Currency fraud of Rs.70 million and recovered laptop, mobile phone and other items from his possession.
A spokesman of FIA said on Thursday that one Dr Zafar resident of Gulgashat Colony Multan had reportedly received money of Rs.70 million from one Abu Bakar resident of Nisar Colony Faisalabad and his relatives for business in bitcoin currency but later, the accused neither returned money nor started business in digital currency.
FIA police after lodging complaint started inquiry in which the allegations were proved true. Therefore, FIA team traced out whereabouts of accused Dr Zafar in Islamabad and arrested him.
The FIA team also recovered a car, laptop, mobile phone and other items from the possession of the accused who told during initial interrogation that he was working with an international gang of swindlers who were extorting money from the people through fake websites and fake accounts.
Further investigation is under progress, spokesman added.
