Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th May, 2019) Gas reserves have reportedly been discovered in Sindh.
According to media reports, the gas reserves have been found in Kotri block of Jamshoro District in Sindh.
The gas reserve has been found by Pakistan Petroleum Limited.
According to a letter issued, 18.5 million cubic feet gas per day is being released from the reserve.
Pakistan has also found signs of success in the ongoing oil and gas drilling in the deep sea. The details suggest that a kick pressure was felt during the ultra-deep drilling in Kekra-1 area of the Arabian Sea. The kick pressure means presence of huge gas reserves. It is anticipated that gas discovery will yield gas flows which can be bigger than Sui field.
Meanwhile, the natural gas shortage in the country is likely to jump 3.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) during the next financial year 2019-20, said Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) report.
According to the report, the demand and supply gap will likely to touch 3,720 mmcfd during next financial year as comparing to 1,447 mmcfd during FY 2017-18.
The gas shortfall was persistently increasing every year and most likely to reach 6.6 bcfd by FY 2028, if not contained.
The report said that 157 percent more gas shortage was likely in the coming winter season as comparing to last winter season.
