ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2017 ) :The government of Gilgit Baltistan has enhanced medical facilities for patients in basic health units (BHUs) in the district, official said on Wednesday.
District Health Officer (DHO), Muhammad Mumtaz told media persons here that medical facilities in all major BHOs have been enhanced by providing free laboratory tests, medicines and consultancy services to visiting patients.
He rejected the impression of shortage of medicines in BHUs in upper areas of Astore and maintained that sufficient medicine stock was available to cater the patients requirements. Recently, I had visited different A-Class dispensaries at remote and far flung areas in upper areas and inspected health facilities provided by medical staff to patients with satisfactory results.
Zero tolerance has been adopted against negligence from duties and strict disciplinary actions would be taken against absent employees, he warned. The recent campaign against polio has remained highly successful and the target set was achieved with assistance of volunteers, Lady Health Workers and special teams.
The DHO said no polio case has been registered in the district this year due to vigorous campaign against this crippling disease and time was nearer to declare GB polio free province.
