Govt Working On Plan To Establish PMRA: State Minister For Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan

State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Wednesday informed the National Assembly that government was working on a plan to establish Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (PMRA) to oversee the media in the country
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) :State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Wednesday informed the National Assembly that government was working on a plan to establish Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (PMRA) to oversee the media in the country.
Responding to a query during question hour, he said, "The Ministry is presently working on establishing a Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority which envisages a proposal of formation of a tribunal to address the grievances related to media".
He said that media regulatory authority would also look into the issue of the working journalists being fired by the media houses without any reason. The authority will also examine the issue of journalists, he added.
To another question, he said Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) was looking into the content of the programmes, aired by the television channels.
The PEMRA was also monitoring that no television channel should telecast any programme against the country, culture and religion.
