IIUI Sports Gala Kicks Off

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2016 ) : The International Islamic University (IIU) Sports Gala commenced on Thursday which was inaugurated by the university President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh amid a colorful flag march of students at football ground of male campus.
A number of events such as first-aid race, sack race, Three- leg race and 200-meter race were held where students, faculty members and employees took active part. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Deans, Directors, Students' Advisor (male) Dr.
Muhammad Arshad Zia, Organizing staff of students advisor office, employees and a large number of students. "IIUI is working to hire an Olympian coach to further polish the skills of university players," said Dr.
Al-Draiweesh, adding efforts for establishing a special centre for sports in the varsity were also underway. He further said youth were omen of bright future of Muslim Ummah, and they must be provided opportunities to take part in positive activities.
President IIUI stressed upon the students to make country progress as their top goal and added that progress of Pakistan was the progress of Muslim Ummah. Earlier, Dr. Arshad Zia welcomed the President and said sports activities were as important as academic activities.
He vowed to continue efforts for providing sports facilities to the varsity students. At the end, winners met with the President IIUI where winner of IIUI cricket team Haroon presented a special souvenir to the president.
