ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Oct, 2016 ) : The Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while strongly condemning the authorities for extending the illegal detention and solitary confinement of its chief has demanded his immediate release.
According to KMS, a spokesman of the forum in a statement deplored the repeated and arbitrary curbs and detention of the Mirwaiz and said that the authorities were preventing him from discharging his religious obligations and social activities.
"Mirwaiz is not allowed to address religious congregations across the territory to which he is invited. For the past six years he has not been allowed to attend Eid prayers and Eid Congregations.
As a political leader his political activities and outreach to people is curbed by force," the spokesman said. Such oppressive measures, he added, are blatant violation of international human rights laws safeguarding human rights of each person.
The spokesman also condemned the continued arrest of the forum leaders including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Ghulam Nabi Zaki and house arrest of Shahid-ul-Islam. Ghulam Nabi Zaki has been slapped with draconian law, Public Safety Act,and lodged at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. APP/rb/mtd/rn
