Land is not only a vital source of livelihood for some but its ownership corresponds to upward social mobility, political power, respect and honor in the community

Islamabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2018 ) Land is not only a vital source of livelihood for some but its ownership corresponds to upward social mobility, political power, respect and honor in the community.

Therefore, land ownership is a principal source of inequality in Pakistan.

This inequality is further tilted due to the presence of a strong gender bias when women are usually denied equal ownership rights to land.

According to the findings of the World Justice Project Report on The Rule of Law in Pakistan based on a Gallup Pakistan Survey in urban Pakistan, respondents were questioned regarding their views on inheritance. 64% of female respondents agreed that all children should get a share in the inheritance of their parents'estate, while only 46% males opined the same.
