ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday reserved its judgment in a case challenging the amendment in Election Act 2017, regarding candidate's form.

Justice Athar Minallah of IHC, who conducted hearing of the case, observed that Parliament was supreme and the bench could not pass such order that challenge it. He remarked that only the Parliament was authorized to introduce legislations.

The petitions were filed by Awami Muslim League (AML)'s chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Ammar Ziauddin, a former minister.

During the course of proceeding, the counsel for the petitioners contended that less information had been sought from the candidates in new ECP form under Election Act 2017.

He stated that the Parliament had not consulted Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) before introducing amendment in candidate's form. The court directed the two sides to submit their written arguments till April 23, and reserved its judgment in the case.
