Islamabad High Court reserves judgment on plea against PML-N candidate

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday reserved its judgment on maintainability of a case challenging the eligibility of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Anjum Aqeel from NA-54.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday reserved its judgment on maintainability of a case challenging the eligibility of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Anjum Aqeel from NA-54.

Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani of IHC conducted hearing on the case against the returning officer's decision for accepting nomination papers of PML-N candidate. During the course of proceeding, the petitioner's counsel contended that several corruption cases against Aqeel were under process in Accountability Court.

The Returning Officer had accepted his nomination papers despite of these cases, he stated.

The petitioner prayed the court to turn down the decision of RO and stop Anjum Aqeel from contesting general election from NA-54 constituency.

After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its judgment over maintainability of the case.

The petitioner had cited Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), RO, Chairman NAB and Anjum Aqeel as respondents in his petition.
