Islamabad High Court serves notice to Election Commission of Pakistan on PTI's plea over reserved women seats

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a petition seeking suspension of a notification regarding allocation of reserved seats for women in the Punjab Assembly for general elections 2018.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday issued a notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a petition seeking suspension of a notification regarding allocation of reserved seats for women in the Punjab Assembly for general elections 2018.

An IHC bench comprising Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb resumed hearing of the case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi seeking suspension of notification dated August 11, 2018. Anees Jillani Advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner.

The petitioner, in his plea, stated that the ECP's notification was against the law.

The petitioner's counsel submitted an application seeking the court's permission to amend the petition. He stated that the petitioner wanted to add more material and information in his plea.

On this, the court served the notices to respondents and adjourned the case.
