Islamabad Traffic Police Issues 30,276 Fine Tickets During Last Fortnight

The personnel of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued 30,276 fine tickets during the last 15 days worth Rs 88,78,300 over violation of various traffic laws by road users
According to the data, the number of fine tickets issued during the first 15 days of the current year were 25 percent less as 40,143 fine tickets were issued during the corresponding period last year.
A total of 185 fine tickets were issued over high speed that prescribed limits, 1144 over violation of signal lights, 1136 for failure to yield the right of way to other vehicles, 62 for defective lights, 343 for driving on wrong sides of the road, 997 for tinted glasses and 293 for having beams.
Likewise, 45 vehicles were fined for driving on one-way, 3400 for overloading, 1544 for obstructing traffic, 1700 for driving without helmet, 172 for turning where prohibited, 172 for negligent driving, 4826 for careless driving, 318 for driving without license, 253 for driving un-registered vehicles, 58 for carrying passengers in dangerous position in transport vehicles and 995 for taking wrong turn.
Similarly, the personnel of ITP fined 1470 motorists for lane violation, 95 for having pressure horns, 227 driving PSVs without routes, 30 for misbehaving with passengers, 4272 for not fastening seat belt, 688 for using mobile during drive, four for having smoke emitting vehicles.
Twenty-eight fine tickets were issued to underage drivers, 14 for parking on zebra crossing, 445 for parking at no parking areas, 168 for parking on bus stops, 636 for route violation, 327 for having non-pattern number plates and remaining others for traffic violation of miscellaneous nature.
Meanwhile, the police source said that IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar is continuously reviewing the progress of the force and has assured availability of all possible resources to improve performance.
He said that fine tickets were issued not as a punitive measure but the purpose is to make citizens more law abiding to ensure safety to their own lives on roads.
He said that ITP personnel will continue their efforts for ensuring safe road environment in the Capital andurged the people to cooperate with them to make this city accident-free.
