ITP, CDA Officials Mull To Improve Road Infrastructure

The officials of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) arranged brain storming sessions to improve road infrastructure and to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city, police source said on Thursday
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jan, 2019 ) :The officials of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) arranged brain storming sessions to improve road infrastructure and to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city, police source said on Thursday.
The first session in this regard was presided over by the Chief Commissioner Islamabad/Chairman CDA Aamir Ali Ahmed which was attended among others by DIG (Security & Traffic) Waqar Ahmed Chohan, SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed, SP (Traffic) Khalid Rasheed and CDA officials.
The Chairman CDA Aamir Ali Ahmed directed Director (Traffic Planning) and Director (Urban) of CDA to work with SSP (Traffic) and forward suggestions to immediately resolve traffic related issues and improve traffic system in the city.
After this session, Member (Engineering) CDA along with SSP (Traffic) and other officials of CDA visited Islamabad Expressway, Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and others areas and considered various options to improve traffic flow there.
After this field visit, they arranged another session in the office of DIG Waqar Ahmed Chohan and finalized the proposals to resolve traffic related problems. As per decision, the implementation on these proposals would formally start within few days and roads to be extended for smooth flow of traffic.
According to the police source, the officials from both departments thoroughly considered about the option of widening of road after Islamabad Expressway (Gulberg to Rawat) and also construction of ring road on G.T roadwhich are the only solutions to avoid traffic congestion there. It was decided thatChairman CDA will take up this issue with higher authorities for permanent solution.
