Juma Prayers Disallowed At Srinagar's Historic Jamia Masjid

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Sep, 2018 ) :The authorities disallowed congregational Juma prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today.
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar, Friday, to prevent people from taking out Muharram procession in the city.
The authorities also put under house arrest early morning the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivers a sermon every Friday at the Jamia Masjid. The prayers could not be held in many other mosques in the city due to restrictions.
"Curbs, curfew and house arrests continue even on Aashura. No Friday prayers allowed at many mosques in the city including Jamia Masjid by the rulers. Even majlis-e-tableegh to pay tributes to Imam Hussian (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala which I was going to address was barred," the Mirwaiz said in a tweet.
