PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Dec, 2017 ) :Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that honesty of leadership and transparency of institutions at upper level is must for eradication of corruption.

He was addressing as chief guest at a function in connection with World Anti Corruption Day arranged by Anti Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Nishter Hall Peshawar. The Chief Minister lauded the performance of Anti Corruption Establishment and other departments to uproot the menace of corruption from the society especially from the government machinery.

He however made clear that only celebrating international day would not do anything fruitful but comprehending the root causes of corruption and taking effective measures would discourage corrupt practices in all spheres of life.

He said we have to change the entire system that is also the agenda of PTI and people wanted us to uproot it. He said his government has taken concrete steps for ensuring transparency in the system during last four and half years.

He said a number of laws were enacted and ended political interference in the institutions giving it independence and autonomy in all respects. Pervez Khattak regretted that politicians in the past kept on interference in the affairs of the institutions that was the main cause of system's failure adding his government controlled the damage and revamped institutions for a corruption free and deliverable system in the province.

He said this is the way forward to wipe out corruption from the society.

He said conflict of interest is another evil promoting corruption therefore he did not get any contract in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite the fact that he belonged to the business of construction.

Pervez Khattak while elaborating the importance of Whistle Blower law passed by the provincial government asked the people to come forward and identify the cases of corruption anywhere in the society.

He said that one third of the recovered money would be given to the informer for giving correct information of evidence of corruption as a reward. The Chief Minister said that in the past regimes, tenders and contracts of developmental projects were openly sold and quality compromised but his government introduced E-tendering system whereas E-bidding and E-billing were being launched in the next phase to lay solid foundations for a transparent system.

He asked the institutions linked with the Anti Corruption to look for the corrupt elements and nabbed them. However, he said that the innocent should not be a casualty in the process. He said that we have to move with fast pace for achieving the set goals by taking care of all such things and play role in establishing a transparent, prosperous and peaceful society.

He said that the right path would become visible when every individual stands committed to his responsibility and perform it honestly. It should be our full time mission as citizen and nation to promote honesty and discourage social evils for making Pakistan a true welfare state, he concluded.
